Jorge Soares is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and research programme manager at Protocol Labs, an open-source R&D lab that builds protocols, tools and services to decentralise and improve the internet. Jorge holds BSc and MSc degrees in communication networks engineering and received a joint PhD from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and Instituto Superior Técnico for his research in ocean robotics and distributed robot olfaction. He worked as a patent examiner with the European Patent Office, where he focused on human-computer interaction and computer construction.
